Description
Cryochaps, as a company, have studied the main strike areas and provided excellent protection in these areas. The boot has been opened up to form vents in an exoskeleton, a hard outer protection with great air flow. This revolutionary tendon boot uses forced convection cooling as well as allowing heat to escape naturally, making it superior in terms of strike protection and non insulating.
Forced Convection Technology
Exoskeleton has been designed for airflow, to minimise heat build up in the lower leg, whilst protecting the areas that are most vulnerable to interference, brushing and strike impacts. Forced convection technology is a method of pumping air across the leg and is used for cooling and drying the leg. Vents have been placed either side of the tendon where the heat is generated. As the tendons and ligaments relax during the “flight” phase of the horse’s gait, an air gap is created, this forces air across the back of the leg, taking heat away from the leg as the horse moves.
The Exoskeleton also features a spacer mesh, which allow heat to escape naturally as it allows air to circulate through the tendon boot, also wicking away moisture and providing cushioning.
Protective Tendon Boots
As well as providing excellent cooling technology, the Exoskeleton also provides ultimate strike protection. We have studied the areas that most require protection from brushing, interference, strikes and impacts, and created an external armour to protect those areas.
